Our French Trip Series, Part One: Lyon (the gastronomic capital of France!)
We hope you’ll join us for the third in a three part series celebrating the cities/regions we visited and all of the things we learned, ate and drank over the two weeks Team Barn + La Poste spent in France this Winter!
Last up: Lyon is a historic city located a two-hour train ride south of Paris. It is beautiful and quite sprawling and built along both the Rhône and the Sôane Rivers. Multi-colored buildings lead from the river up the surrounding hills where many years ago there was a thriving silk weaving trade. Paul Bocuse, Daniel Boulud, and many other famous chefs called this area home, influencing not only French cuisine, but how food is prepared and served all over the world. The rivers brought trade from the Mediterranean and created a fertile plain for growing (famous!) grapes and vegetables. Have you heard of Beaujolais and Côtes du Rhône??Cheesemaking and charcuterie continue to be obsessed upon and many ingredients actually have protected status!
We absolutely loved Lyon. It received our vote for a more worthwhile city to visit over Paris. We ate a few of our favorite meals here. The famous ‘Bouchons’ deliver the most quintessential of French dining experiences and we are so excited to share what we learned during our visit there with you during this cozy class.
We will cook together in the kitchen and then enjoy a cozy lunch of what we’ve prepared in the Barn’s dining room.
During today’s class + lunch, La Poste + the Barn’s resident Beverage Babe, Abby Powell, will teach us all about the beautiful styles of wine found here.
