Foraged Ikebana Workshop with Christy Curcuru from Growing Studio + Light Spring Picnic Lunch with Kristin
* This class includes a very moderate walk around the grounds of the Barn to forage for our materials. If you are unable to participate in the walk, we will have a lovely place to sit and plenty of plant and flower materials for you to use.
Please join us for this very special spring morning at the Barn! Christy Curcuru will be with us as we spend a leisurely morning walking the grounds at the Barn to collect wild and foraged spring plants and flowers. Following our walk, Christy will teach us the beautiful art of Japanese Ikebana flower arranging. She will guide us through many of the aspects of this ancient art as we all create our own arrangements to take home. All of the materials needed will be provided and guests will take home the items needed to continue your Ikebana practice at home.
After our workshop, Kristin will serve a light, springy seated picnic lunch at long tables in the shade of the big oak tree….accompanied by our favorite spring wines from La Poste, of course!
*In the event of inclement weather, we will simply have our workshop and lunch inside the cozy Barn space.
A little bit about Christy and Growing Studio:
A graduate of the Rhode Island School of Design, she honed her craft in painting and sculpture before finding her truest medium — organic elements woven into artful compositions.
Through her creative practice, Christy explores the interplay between form and impermanence, crafting floral arrangements that breathe with movement, color, and texture. As the founder of Growing Studio, she transforms flowers, branches, and natural textures into living sculptures, each piece a fleeting moment captured in bloom. Her artistry has graced the pages of Martha Stewart, Nylon Magazine, Vogue Weddings, Style Me Pretty, and Southern Living, resonating with those who find magic in the meeting of wildness and intention.
* this class includes an easy, hour and a half-long stroll on a uneven, forested, and gravel-filled path and includes a bit of an incline, please wear proper shoes
* this is a rain or shine event, please dress accordingly
* please be aware of the Barn’s cancellation policies before signing up
