third annual thanksgiving truffle hunt + lunch | november 24th

On autumn days in the French and Italian countryside you're bound to see beret-adorned groups of folks, baskets in hand, leading their dogs to a secret spot in the woods where they hope their furry friends will sniff out one (or many!) fat truffles. Both countries… are the leading spots where you are able to find the stinky-delicious and allusive truffle.
Did you know that we have truffles here in Appalachia? We do! They are almost impossible to find without the help of a trained dog to do the sniffing and digging. And, lucky for us, there is a very cool couple based in Asheville who has done just that!
The folks from Wild Wild Goods have the cutest Italian truffle-hunting pups who scour the woods in search of Appalachian truffles. During this extremely special day, they will join us at the Barn to help us learn about this amazing foraged food and these super cool dogs during a truffle hunt in the surrounding woods, followed by a casual discussion and nibbles, followed by a truffle-filled, lunch.
You will also have the opportunity to purchase truffles and other goodies from Wild Wild Goods!
* This event requires a bit of walking over uneven ground and in the woods, often without a worn path. Please wear proper shoes and clothing.
* In the event of light rain, we will still go! In the event of heavy rain, we will enjoy a similar festive educational + delicious experience inside!
* Please be aware of the Barn’s cancellation policies before booking!
cooking classes + creative workshops
+ Cooking classes and creative workshops are always small, hands-on, laid-back, focus on what’s in season, and culminate with a festive, shared meal.
+ Once purchased, your class or workshop tuition is non-refundable, but you may have someone attend in your place if you are unable to attend.
+ If the class or workshop must be canceled due to unforeseen circumstances on the part of the Barn, you will have the choice of scheduling a new class or workshop or receiving a complete refund.
+ The Barn is surrounded by hills, grassy areas, rocks, and changes in elevation. Please dress appropriately, comfortable footwear and an extra layer of warmth is recommended.
